Urban and Infrastructural Rhythms and the Politics of Temporal Alignment

To date, urban research has paid little attention to the role of infrastructures in shaping and ordering temporalities. I contend that study offers a powerful lens for understanding reciprocal relationship changing infrastructural temporalities as well power-driven processes temporal alignment realignment. Approaching time through empirical infrastructures, argue, reveals how contemporary change is entangled with—often conflicting—orientations past, present, future. At same time, it uncovers reordering by socio­-technical systems not merely reflect, but also enable, constrain, preconfigure future urbanism. Specifically, periods change, crisis, failure reveal various temporalities, asynchronisms, misalignments are otherwise invisible or neglected crucial broader its governance.
